Scentis Multiple Phase Percent Area Module

Multiple Phase Percent Area Module

The Multiple Phase Percent Area Module utilises the latest image analysis techniques to accurately determine the percent area of up to five distinct phases. Percent Area measurements are relevant for ASTM and ISO norms ranging from second-phase constituents to inclusions in thermal spray coatings.

Grain Size Module

The Grain Size Module utilizes the General Intercept Procedures described in both the ASTM and ISO grain size norms. Unlike chart comparison methods, the intercept methodology of grain size determination minimises operator bias. Intercept methods are also more convenient than Planimetric techniques. The intercept method is faster than the planimetric method for the same level of precision because an accurate count can be made without the need to mark off intercepts or intersections.

Scentis Thickness Module

Thickness Module

The Thickness Module uses the latest image analysis techniques to automatically determine thickness of a coating or layer. The module can be operated in either manual or automatic mode. The integrated “Bridge Gap” control makes analysis of non-uniform coatings/layers possible by eliminating small second-phase constituents or artifacts. The “Exclude Size” control helps to eliminate non-related areas that may threshold at the same gray level as the coating/layer being analyzed.

Inclusion Module

The Inclusion Module utilises the latest image analysis techniques to automatically determine inclusion or second phase percentage of a specimen. The module utilizes the methodology described in ASTM E1245. Unlike ASTM E45, E1245 was specifically designed to be performed using automatic image analysis

The Particle Size Module is specifically developed with accuracy and repeatability in mind. Of all analysis methods, particle size and classification ranks among the most time-consuming and tedious. By incorporating the latest in image analysis techniques this is no longer the case. Measurements from area to shape factor are as simple as clicking a button.

Graphite Cast Iron Module

The Graphite Module uses the latest image analysis techniques to automatically classify graphite in cast iron. The module conforms to procedures described in both the ASTM and ISO norms. Unlike manual methods, the module uses state-of-the-art algorithms to determine type, size, shape and distribution of graphite. This minimises operator interaction and bias when rating these highly complex microstructures.

Dendritic Arm Spacing Module

The Dendritic Arm Spacing (DAS) Module employs the latest image analysis techniques enabling automatic determination of DAS in most materials. Unlike manual methods, the module employs an interactive method for proper selection of dendritic arms. This function can be sued to quickly “teach” the systemabout what to look for with respect to DAS patterns.

The Microindentation Hardness Module uses the latest image analysis techniques to automatically determine microindentation hardness. The module conforms to procedures described in both the ASTM and ISO norms. Unlike manual methods, the module uses state-of-the-art algorithms to automatically determine indent diagonals thus minimizing operator bias. The module is necessaryor laboratories that experience high sample volume and/or employ multiple technicians.

Brinell Hardness Module

The Brinell Hardness Module employs the latest image analysis techniques enabling one to determine Brinell hardness automatically. The module conforms to procedures described in both ASTM and ISO norms. Unlike manual methods, the module uses state-of-the-art algorithms to automatically determine indent diameter thus minimizing operator bias. The module is necessary or laboratories that experience high sample volume and/or employ multiple technicians.
