Use of Metallographic Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) in Oil, Gas and Chemical Process Industries

Tips, tricks, and skills for anyone who utlizes Non-Destructive Testing.

Many applications demand a materialographic preparation and examination without damaging the subject of inspection. This is where non-destructive testing, NDT, is employed. Non-destructive preparation enables the necessary inspection to be carried out on site, and is particularly suitable for quality checks at power stations, oil platforms, bridges, aircraft, ship engines etc. In this webinar we will cover the equipment and techniques used to prepare and document metallographic structures in this highly demanding application.

Points covered will include:

- Correct use of portable grinder/polishers for Mechanical Preparation

- How using Electrolytic Preparation makes it possible to save time and improve productivity

- Creating silicon rubber replicas of surfaces and components using RepliSet & RepliFix for making 3D replicas of microstructures which behave like metallic surfaces when examined under a microscope

- Using Transcopy Replica Foils to accurately duplicate microstructures for analysis off site and document results

- How to resolve the microstructures on site by using Portable Microscopes and cameras
