Hardness testing: The correlation between Etching and Hardness mapping

Comparing color mapping with classical etching. Use, benefits and limitations will be discussed.

Creating a hardness-related color map is a versatile tool which enables the operator to obtain overview over a large sample area. Workpieces containing differences in hardness - such as forged, cold-worked, welded, cast and heat treated pieces - may be suitable for this tool. The webinar will introduce you to the use of color mapping within hardness testing, which is a useful tool when doing a vast number of measurements. In the webinar examples will be displayed as well as comparing color mapping with classical etching. This will help you obtain an overview of what can be done with color mapping and its possibilities and limitations.
