Materialography as a Quality Control Tool

Learn how to eliminate costly returns of defective components, thus providing a better customer experience.

Quality control (QC) is a process used to ensure manufactured components are fit for purpose by assessing against set standards. One major part of this QC procedure is the materialographic inspection process where samples of the product are taken from the production line to prove that they are being manufactured to the required standard. A good quality control system will help ensure the quality of components leaving the factory and eliminate costly returns of defective components, thus providing a better customer experience. Enhancement of perceived quality leads to a higher morale of employees resulting in higher productivity. Ongoing quality control can also improve development throughout the product lifecycle and suggest production improvements.

In this webinar, attendees will learn about materialographic testing with particular emphasis on:

 • Why components are checked for quality

 • Best practices for the sectioning of components

• How sample preparation can reveal hidden detail and defects

 • Methods for evaluating the product
